It can take me anywhere from fifteen minutes to half an hour to finish a poem. It probably takes fifteen for a short poem, and half an hour for a longer one, especially if I spend extra time proofreading and revising it. Sometimes I start a poem but then don’t know where to go with it, so I let it sit and then come back to it either an hour later or the next day, after I’ve had more time to think about how to end it.
