Can you make a list of quotes that would make wonderful tattoos? I doesn't matter if it's your quotes, a song lyric or a poem or maybe a quote from a book. Thank you xo

I was already compiling a list of quotes that I’ve written for someone else, so I’ll just paste them here now. These are all ones that I’ve written since that’s what she requested! (Watch the quotation marks; they separate one quote from another.) xo

“Your body is not a funeral home. Stop loading bodies into it out of a desire to feel understood.”

“Remember, your body is not a curfew. You don’t have to keep trying to break it.”

“If I could, I would lend you the strongest pair of scissors in the world

to help you cut the strings to your own shadow and let it fly

away like a kite just so it wouldn’t have to stop following you

around anymore.”

“I know that your version of self-love

is treating your wrists like bulls-eyes, but I will never

hand you the arrow that could hit those two targets.”

“Human beings are not ships; you cannot save them from sinking.”

“Forgiveness isn’t putting the weapon down; it’s learning how to kiss the person pulling the trigger.”

“When the world tries to break your back with its weight, get a stronger spine.”

“I still write poems about you whenever I ride the subway,

but then again, I probably always will.”

“When being alive is a wrong number, just remember

that there’s always someone else on the other end,

not the person you were trying to reach, but still someone

who wants to hear a human voice for once.”

“Sometimes people don’t love you like you were meant to be because they don’t know how to love themselves.”

“Just because your message went to voicemail

doesn’t mean there isn’t someone on the other end

wishing they had the courage

to pick up the phone.”

“But if an aquarium is just a sadder second cousin

of the ocean, then scars are just leftovers

from yesterday’s disaster zone.”

“The ache of missing you is enough to fill an entire

ocean with all the butterflies from my stomach.”

“The only

way I learned to do things was to to turn human beings

into crash test cars and run them into trees.”

I tried to go without loving you for a few months

but I was only a week clean

when I relapsed.

“For you, loneliness was an instinct. It’s something you could do with your eyes closed and your hands tied behind your back.”

“I think that if someone drew me a map of your body, I could walk through it blind and still find the way to your heart.”

“Every time we didn’t touch it was a missed opportunity.”

“We always failed at love,

no matter how many times we studied for it.”

“Loving you hurt so much I’m surprised the pain scale

at the doctor’s office doesn’t include

being your girlfriend as an option.”

“I got I love you tattooed on my palm so I could

hold my hand up instead of saying it out loud.”

“The only scars we gave each other

were ones worth keeping.”

“When it feels like the walls are caving in, push them back out.”

“Scars are just memories that skin holds so dear

it got them tattooed beneath the surface.”

“Loving you hurt so much I had to pull the plug

on our relationship, but I ended up

shocking myself instead.”

“Even ghosts have things they wish they’d said.”

“You were a monsoon season that never ended.”

“Sometimes I’m rendered speechless by breathing.”

“Forgive me for treating my body like a tourniquet

when heartbreak was not enough

to staunch the blood flow.”

“There’s a reason God made humans with hands.

It’s so that every time they fall,

they can drag themselves back up again.”

“We were always alone, even together.”
