My friends always complain my writings are morbidly sad and that I need to either change my writing style or put down my pen and burn my papers. While they are right that my writings are beyond morbid, it's freeing to write sad stories. I've never been a romantic and believe that happy endings are overrated, so normally I use neither or when I do, I end up killing their significant other or a bad twist. Anyway, no one wants to read them anymore and I'm afraid to write now because I'm a "freak"

Hey. Listen to me. Writing about sad things or even killing off your characters is not a bad thing at all and it certainly does not make you a freak. I mean, Stephen King definitely isn’t considered a freak in writers’ circles just because his writing has so many morbid endings and twists!

Besides, I think that sad writing is cathartic, and twists and unexpected endings are what make certain authors’ works so interesting.

Don’t give up on writing the way you want to. I promise you that there are people out there who would love to read your unique style of writing.

:)
