I wrote a poem once and a very close friend of mine insisted on posting it on our school paper, and it was actually published and did you know that day , that was the day my mum praised me. But I don't think I am that good.

If your poem was published in the school newspaper, you are that good. Trust me.

It sounds to me like you don’t believe in yourself enough, but your friend believed in you a whole lot, and something good came out of his or her belief.

Something even better can come if you start believing in your own talent and ability.

When you start believing in your work and your poems, that’s how you improve.

You should be very proud of yourself. :)
