No need to apologize! So you asked “Do you think it’s possible for a girl that identifies as straight to fall in love with another woman?"
Yes, it is. See, people don’t fall in love with genders.
People fall in love with people.
Sometimes we’re so concerned with putting ourselves into boxes and categorizing ourselves that we begin to stick labels on ourselves and identify as that label and that label only. We identify as the label itself, not a human being. And sometimes we even start subconsciously making decisions and carrying out actions that will move us closer and closer to achieving that label and becoming “100% that thing."
I think that sometimes, if you identify as straight, you might actually focus more on the desires you have for people of your opposite gender than on the desires you have for people of the same gender. I mean, no matter "how straight you think you are," there are usually going to be thoughts of carrying out a gay or bisexual relationship. Even if your desires for people of the same gender are weaker than for the opposite gender, it might actually be because you’re subconsciously trying so hard to fall in love with the opposite gender and the opposite gender only.
Maybe it’s because you’re afraid of having a relationship with another woman, say, because it’s new and unfamiliar territory to you.
But people are people, and feelings are feelings, and we cannot stop ourselves from feeling certain things. We can’t make our feelings vanish and sometimes we’re not able to even lessen them.
To be honest, love is a genderless, ageless, colorless concept. We don’t “choose" to love people, we just love them because that’s what our heart told us. When it comes to love, we are controlled by the heart, not the mind.
Yes, our mind can control our actions in response to our feelings, but even our actions cannot erase the love we feel for someone else.
If you identify as straight and you fall in love with another woman, then you don’t need to ask if it’s possible to fall in love with another woman. You want to know why?
Because you just did.
You just answered your own question.
