I was wondering, do you believe you've created your own style, as it is very unique and consistent throughout all your work, or were you inspired by another writer?

I think that most writers have their own styles, because we all draw from different influences. However, there is a small percentage of writers that copy their styles directly from one source, I guess.

But yes, my style is definitely inspired by several other writers; it’s a combination of different styles. For example, Sierra DeMulder, Andrea Gibson, Buddy Wakefield, Michael Lee-those slam poetry influences have inspired me, and I’ve kind of tried to combine aspects of their styles with the styles of other, more “classical,” raw poets like Anne Michaels or Sharon Olds.

So it’s really just a mix, a “salad” of influences, if you will. ;)
