I used to try and keep up journals because I thought if I was serious about writing that I should do it everyday, to be dedicated. It never worked out because I hated forcing myself to say things I didn't care much for. Personally, I hate prompts, I hate writing to write. I'll write if there's something I want to say, but I do not see a point otherwise. But sometimes I feel guilty, I feel like I'm not as dedicated as those who do it everyday, what do you think?

I don’t think you should feel guilty at all. Just because you don’t write every day does not mean you’re any less dedicated; it just means you have a different way of writing.

You, personally, write not just to write, but based on your own inner desires and emotions. Your feelings determine your writing schedule, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Besides, forcing yourself to write things you really dislike could actually make you dislike the act/process of writing itself, so I think it’s good that you’re pacing yourself and writing only when you feel up to it.

It works differently for everybody, so be confident in your writing schedule! ;)
