Your poems are so beautiful but I am new to writing and am confused, is a poem a story just broken into stanzas? What classifies literature as a poem?

Poetry: A form of literature using rhythm and “enjambment,” which means the poem is broken up into separate lines or grouped into chunks of lines called stanzas.

Prose: A form of language that uses natural flow of speech. It is not broken up into lines like poetry is, and it has an ordinary structure. Prose is what short stories are written in. It’s like writing down what you’re saying exactly the way you’re saying it. Just ordinary speech, written down.

So yes, generally a poem is going to be broken up into lines or stanzas. You could write a prose piece and then break it into lines or stanzas and then call it a poem!

But also, there’s something called prose poetry, which is just prose that flows poetically. I know, it’s confusing. :/
