I really need advice. I'm really not happy and I've started eating less, really less. I don't like anything about who I am and I feel so out of control, I feel like this is the one part of me that I can change and fix. And I'm so scared that this is turning into something real and dangerous, all I ever think about is food and how to avoid eating it and I never used to do this. I miss everything about who I used to be and I'm so scared. And i'm sorry for writing this, and for sending it.

Oh, love. This hit me right in the heart because this is exactly what happens to me all the time, and it’s hard for me to admit that to people. But for the first time last week I did admit this to someone, and now it feels as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. If you could just tell someone out loud, that might be a great first step, just to get it off your chest.

If you’re worried about your weight, I suggest you do an activity that will help you feel more fit-running, for example. That always helps me. And if you go running (or do another activity), you’ll feel in control of your body and it will help with your stress and your self-confidence.

You could also come up with a mantra, something to tell yourself over and over when you’re feeling bad. A little quote or refrain that serves as a self-reminder, something that makes you feel worthy and better about yourself.

Know that your weight does not define you, ever. Know that you are not alone, and if this gets too much worse, I want you to promise me that you will try to get help. Please. I will always be here for you if you ever want to talk. And don’t be sorry for sending this; just writing out your feelings can be a great relief. Maybe that would help too-getting a journal to write about all these feelings inside you, about your eating. If you put those thoughts onto paper, they can no longer haunt you.
