I think it’s important for people to write because it’s a healthy form of bleeding. It’s a way to heal wounds, to say, “I am here. I exist. This is my story. These are their stories; these are our stories.” It’s a way of survival, and it’s a good kind of pain. It provides release and is also a wonderful way of connecting people to one another. Writing binds people together through a shared experience. It’s important for people to write because their stories are important, and their lives are important, and they must be remembered.
