when i was seven i was held down and played with like a doll by a boy i thought genuinely cared for me. hands touched me in places a little girl should never be touched. i never told anyone.

First of all, I am so sorry that happened to you. And it makes me so angry because you were only seven, but of course no one deserves that at any age. But you were so young and you were just growing up.

But I want you to remember, always, that what was done to you was not your fault and never will be. This act will not define you.

Sierra DeMulder once wrote that “Your body is not a temple. Your body is the house you grew up in. How dare you try to burn it to the ground.” But he’s the one that quote needs to be intended for, only it needs to be reworked to say “Her body is not a temple. Her body is the house she grew up in. How dare you try to burn it to the ground.”

Yes, he may have singed your edges, but he will never be able to burn you down. Ever.
