I feel burned out sometimes too-and the truth is that sometimes you shouldn’t force yourself to write. If you force yourself you might end up actually damaging your desire to write and do more harm than good.
But what helps me the most is by setting a goal. I try to write at least one poem each night, and one Fragment or one Six-Word Story, or whatever little project I’m working on at the time. And that helps, to set manageable goals each night.
Even if you only write a three-line poem two nights a week, at least you’re writing, and then you can write more on the weekends. Writing even three lines a few days a week is an accomplishment if you have a busy schedule.
Also, if you feel too burned out to write, read instead. That can sometimes be more relaxing and can still give you inspiration and ideas that you can drawn on and incorporate into your writing when you next feel like it. :) xo
