this poem has been written before.
all poems have.
it begins with me declaring my love for you,
and ends with me begging you to stay.
now that things have been cleared up,
i will begin.
the weight of your bones is imprinted in my mind;
blueprints of your veins are burned into my own.
i have memorized the shape of you,
the curve of your spine and nape of your neck.
if someone were to ask me,
what page of a book is the one you love on?
i would tell them, all pages.
your name is written in every book that exists.
there is no language in the world
that does not contain your name.
you are the moon and the eclipse,
the shattering of glass,
the four seasons
and all the ones in between.
i saw the universe in you,
and dove in whole-heartedly
to swim through your stars.
i have kept you inside of me for so long
that i would be utterly surprised
if i woke up and you had left.
so, with everything i have,
with all the words in the world
and all the ones yet to be discovered,
please stay.
i have loved you for too long.
