hi there, just want to tell you that I absolutely love your writing :) I have a question though, in this little piece ""I grew up believing my skin was a patchwork quilt that would sew itself. That was before my grandfather, before his story taught me that sometimes we have to choke on the things we love in order to be taught the power of flight, in order to realize that our own bare palms can be the only wielders of needle and thread." What do you mean by "choke on the things we love"? Thanks!

Hello and thank you! :)

By “choke on the things we love,” I mean that sometimes we have to realize that the things or people we love are too big for us, are too much for us to swallow or handle, and it takes us stumbling over them to understand this. It means that sometimes we have to let go of what we love if it doesn’t fit us in just the right way, and if we let go, we can learn how to hold on.
